Xicheng District to Award Physical Bookstores 10 Million Yuan again

Xicheng District will further support the development of physical bookstores. In addition to nearly ten million yuan they gave last year, the district authorities would award more money to physical bookstores this year, the reporter learned from Xicheng District Culture and Tourism Bureau recently.

In 2021, Xicheng District will continue to provide policy support for the opening of new physical bookstores. For example, it will give different amounts of financial rewards to new physical bookstores opened in Xicheng District’s schools, shopping malls and cultural parks, as well as high-quality bookstores that meet the functional positioning of Xicheng District as the core area of the capital and have unique characteristics. Moreover, the district will award 100000 to 500000 yuan to the reading spaces that are run by social forces and pass the assessment, not more than 1.5 million yuan to the physical bookstores and reading spaces that are still opened at night, and 50000 to 100000 yuan to physical bookstores and reading spaces that have made special contributions to the construction of Xicheng District’s public cultural service system.

In recent years, Xicheng District has been speeding up the development of the physical bookstore industry. Up to now, there are 152 physical bookstores in Xicheng District, including 5 book buildings, 7 bookstores in shopping malls, 2 bookstores in schools, and 5 bookstores in cultural parks.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), Xicheng District will support bookstores to cooperate with local communities, promote the construction of reading facilities, create public cultural spaces featuring the integration of various kinds of businesses, and open a number of demonstration bookstores near residential communities.
