Xicheng District Recruits Voluntary Inheritors of Intangible Cultural Heritage
The 8th "Folk Treasure, Memory in Xicheng" Xicheng District intangible cultural heritage volunteers recruitment event was launched at Xicheng District Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center recently.
This year’s event will recruit volunteers for five intangible cultural heritage items, including Beijing-style sugar painting, Xingyi Chuan, seal cutting, tangram, and Ruifuxiang’s expertise in making Chinese-style clothes by hands.
The recruitment will end on August 22. The inheritors of intangible cultural heritage will personally select some volunteers and teach them their unique skills. After 24 class hours of training from early September, outstanding volunteers will have a chance to become real apprentices of the inheritors.
According to a relevant person in charge of Xicheng District Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center, they launched the recruitment event in 2014. Over seven years, 311 people have been trained in 36 intangible cultural heritage items, and more than 30 have become official apprentices of the inheritors.
