Xicheng District Intangible Cultural Heritage Performance Season 2021 Kicks off
The opening ceremony of the Xicheng District Intangible Heritage Performance Season 2021 was held in the Small Theater of Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center recently. The opening show included excellent productions which have been staged in previous seasons, covering traditional martial arts, traditional music, traditional dance, traditional sports, entertainments and acrobatics, Chinese opera, as well as Chinese Quyi. In the next half year, martial arts, traditional music, Chinese Quyi, Kunqu Opera, Hebei Bangzi, folk customs, and ancient Chinese trick performances will be staged, showing the charm of traditional Chinese culture to the audience.
The plaque presenting ceremony of the sixth batch of Xicheng District-level intangible cultural heritage items was also held at the opening ceremony of the performance season. The 16 items cover 6 categories, including traditional music, Chinese Quyi, traditional sports, entertainments and acrobatics, traditional art, traditional techniques, as well as traditional Chinese medicine.
Since the performance season was first held in 2013, more than 20 performances covering Chinese opera, Chinese Quyi, magic, acrobatics, traditional martial arts, and intangible cultural heritage music have been staged each year. Up to now, Xicheng District boasts 40 intangible cultural heritage items under state protection, 76 ones under city protection and 224 ones under district protection.
