Xicheng District Disabled Persons’ Federation Offers Supportive Service to Help Disabled Persons Get Jobs
A disabled person called Xiaojin (not his real name) got a job in a brand store recently. Xicheng District Disabled Persons’ Federation put him in contact with the store, and arranged an employment counselor to give him tips on interviewing for the job, and help him adapt himself to the new job. Xiaojin finally gets used to the job and is praised by the employer.
Although the 29-year-old Xiaojin has a hearing impairment, he has been using the resources provided by Xicheng District Disabled Persons’ Federation to learn skills and increase his capacity for work. Based on Xiaojin’s employment intention and requirements, the Employment Service Center of Xicheng District Disabled Persons’ Federation made use of online job search platforms and job fairs to help him contact with employers. Before applying for a job, the employment counselor carried out training for him in how to show his work ability in an interview, as well as in communication skills based on his own conditions. Xiaojin finally passed the interview. He is responsible for sewing, cleaning, and preparing goods for delivery in the brand store. During the job adaptation period, the counselor accompanied him to take the orientation course, gave him psychological support, and also discussed how to effectively communicate with him and improve his abilities with the store.
Xicheng District-level and sub-district-level employment service institutions and social supportive employment service agencies provide employment service for both unemployed disabled persons and employers. They conduct training for disabled persons based on the needs of employers, and help them adapt to their new jobs. Nearly 100 people with disabilities have gotten jobs with the help of supportive employment bases and supportive employment service.
