Foreign Celebrities Visit Xicheng District to Experience Traditional Beijing Culture


Some foreign celebrities from the USA, Brazil, the UK, France, Greece and other countries who are living in China now paid a visit to Xicheng District recently, as a part of the "Silk Road Rediscovery Tour of Beijing, A Centurial Journey of Progress" event. They have had a deeper understanding of the history, culture and social livelihood of Xicheng District. It’s also a chance for the district to show the world its new development, new achievements and new image.

On that day, the foreign celebrities went to the Yangmeizhu Xiejie to feel the charm of the Beijing hutong. Located in Yangmeizhu Xiejie, the Caicifang workshop is a small store dedicated to the protection and development of handcrafts made from antique Chinese porcelain fragments. Under the guidance of a professional, the foreign guests learned the ceramic restoration craftsmanship and Chinese ceramic culture in Caicifang. And then, they visited the Guang’anmennei Sub-district "Guangyi+" Citizen Cultural Center to experience local residents’ rich and colorful community cultural life. The foreigners also learned about the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival in the center.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. The event invites foreign celebrities living in China to visit Beijing in themed activities covering Beijing’s history and culture, technological innovation, economic construction, urban development, ecological environment, and people’s livelihood. They have taken a closer look at Beijing from different angles, and experienced the outstanding achievements made by the Communist Party of China along with the Chinese people over the past century and the changes that have taken place in people’s daily life.
