Anhui Guildhall in Xicheng District Reopens
Anhui Guildhall was reopened recently, which is located in Xicheng District, Beijing. One of Beijing’s famous Peking Opera theater in the Qing Dynasty was located in this guildhall. After the reopening, Peking Opera practice and inheritance base and Chunshu Sub-district traditional culture sharing space were also unveiled.
Anhui Guildhall and Chinese Opera Arts Education Center of the National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts (NACTA) co-establish the teaching practice base of the NACTA’s Division of Continuing Education and the traditional Chinese culture inheritance base in the guildhall. The "Beautiful Xicheng, Wonderful Peking Opera" display project for the education of Chinese opera art aims to build Anhui Guildhall into one of Xicheng District’s cultural signatures as well as a national-level Chinese opera culture and art display center, for promoting Xicheng District’s Peking Opera culture.
Chunshu Sub-district traditional culture sharing space, jointly set up by Anhui Guildhall and Chunshu Sub-district of Xicheng District, is planned to be built into a national-level demonstration zone for public cultural services. It will be used as a platform for exchanging and experiencing the culture of traditional Chinese opera. The sharing space will not only highlight Xicheng District as the birthplace of Peking Opera and its characteristics of Peking Opera culture, but also try to integrate historical, ancient architecture, and cultural elements with life, so as to provide reproducible and valuable experience and mode for community-level cultural undertakings.
The activities held in Anhui Guildhall recently not only allow children and local residents to experience Peking Opera, the national quintessence, but also inject new vitality into the guildhall.
