"Origin of Peking Opera" Xicheng District 2020 Peking Opera’s Birthplace Art Season Concluded
The closing ceremony of the "Origin of Peking Opera" Xicheng District 2020 Peking Opera’s Birthplace Art Season was held at Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center on September 13. The 12-day Peking Opera event included the opening ceremony and performance, lecture, forum and wonderful performances. Beijing audience enjoyed the quintessence of Chinese culture during the art season.
The art season has been held for three years. The year of 2020 is the 230th anniversary of the birth of Peking Opera, and the 10th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of Peking Opera as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. More than 100 performers of major schools of Peking Opera have given wonderful performances, and the related reports online have won nearly 2.5 million views. It’s worth mentioning that this year’s art season was live-streamed on the National Public Culture Cloud (culturedc.cn), the WeChat public account of Beijing Xicheng District (bjxchnews), and the VIVA app, allowing the audience to experience the beauty of Peking Opera online. 3.7 million people watched the live-streamed performances.
Xicheng District will hold more performances, forums and activities in the future, giving more chances to Peking Opera performers and residents to explore Peking Opera, and tell stories about the birthplace of Peking Opera better.
