Xicheng District Celebrated Qixi Festival with Various Themed Activities
To celebrate Qixi Festival, Chinese Valentine’s Day, performances, community get-together, lectures about Qixi Festival and other themed activities were held in Xicheng District, allowing people to delve into traditional Chinese culture and carry forward Chinese tradition.
On August 25, this year’s Qixi Festival, Xicheng District Bureau of Culture and Tourism held a celebration in the Grand View Garden. Visitors watched performances and Qixi Festival-themed intangible cultural heritage display, and participated in prize-winning quiz, waste-sorting promotion activity and photo-taking interactive activity.
A Qixi Festival-themed cultural activity was held at Begonia Study in Wanshou Park. A lecture about traditional Chinese culture and a lesson on how to make rope bracelet offered residents a chance to enjoy the charm of Chinese festival and know the cultural connotation of the Qixi Festival
Xicheng District Library held cultural activities online. The activities included poetry contest, Qixi Festival-themed quiz, lecture on Qixi Festival folk custom and tea ceremony, tea ceremony show, and “Love and emotion in Chinese ancient poems” lecture.
Niujie Sub-district Women’s Federation held an activity to teach people how to make handcrafted everlasting flowers. Tianqiao Sub-district and Tianqiao Folk Culture Association jointly held online traditional festival activities such as classic recitation and rope bracelet making activity. Communities in Zhanlanlu Sub-district also held a series of Qixi celebration activities. They popularized the knowledge of the Qixi Festival to residents, collected paintings, poems and articles from residents, and held handicraft making activity and classic recitation.
In Qixi Festival, time-honored restaurants under Beijing Huatian Food Group offered discounts to couple customers. Many signature dishes and creative dishes were sold at a discount.
