Wrestling in Tianqiao
Peking Wrestling was very popular in 1830s and is famous all over China. The first wrestling arena was opened in Tianqiao. The act of wrestling pays attention to the beauty of performance, which takes the visual enjoyment to the audience. This kind of performance made the wrestling evolve from an athletic event to a branch of art at that time. Even though it is a kind of performance, the wrestling still asks the competitors to own some certain basic skills and strengths. In accordance with the rules, it is usually best of three, winning with “Ban’er”(make your rival stumbled) and losing when one is crashed to the ground. It was listed among the second batch of Chinese intangible cultural heritages in 2008.
