Qianxiangyi Silk Store
Founded in 1809, Qianxiangyi Silk Store set up its Beijing Branch in 1830 and was hence ranked among the eight famous stores in Beijing. The name of the store bears the meaning of "modesty, prudence and harmony keep making benefits", which came from a quotation in the Mencius, a classic work dating from the second half of 4th century B.C. —"complacency leads to hurts, while modesty results in benefits".
