Da Jinsi Hutong
During the Ming Dynasty, many sewing workshops operated out of Da Jinsi Hutong and Xiao Jinsi Hutong, or the Big/Small Golden Silk Hutong. In the Qing Dynasty, the area was called Jinyinse Tao Hutong, or the Gold and Silk Sash Hutong, as a lot of sewing artisans worked especially for the Imperial Palace. The Da Jinsi Hutong can be seen in northeastern Xicheng District, winding from the Yindianqiao Hutong in the east to the Nan Guanfang Hutong in the south. The Xiao Jinsi Hutong lies at its north. There used to be a Buddhist convent called Huaibao An in the west end of the Da Jinsi Hutong; now it is a private residence.
