Shoalhaven became the sister city of Xicheng District in 2010.
Shoalhaven is located in the southeast of New South Wales, Australia, about two hours drive from downtown Sydney. It has a population of 95,000, covering an area of 4568 square kilometers. The early settlers began to develop this piece of land from 1797. The city is divided into three pieces of precinct, a mayor and 12 city councilors form the city council, and the vice mayor is elected among these 12 city councilors. The city’s tourism industry is well developed. The most well-known scenic spot is undoubtedly the Jervis Bay, known for its sand, which is the world’s most white. There are 109 sandy beaches along the coastline of about 160 km. The virgin forest in the bay area is home to many Australian native animals and plants. Grape growing, wine making and gardening industry have their different features, arts and culture industry and fishing industry are developed as well.
