Old Buildings Renovated into Cultural and Arts Experience Centers: Contracts of Utilization Projects of Cultural-Relic Buildings in Xicheng District Signed
The bid results of Xicheng District’s first batch of utilization projects of cultural-relic buildings were announced on April 14.
The contracts of the utilization projects of six cultural-relic buildings located in Xicheng District were signed at the contract signing ceremony on that day. The projects are as follows: Shexian County Guildhall will be renovated into the Sino-British financial and cultural exchange center; Jinjiang Guildhall will be used as the Lin Haiyin literature exhibition center; Liyuan Society will be rebuilt into a Peking Opera art exchange and incubation center; the old site of Xidan Hotel will be renovated into a multi-functional cultural and art space; Jushunhezhan Delicacies from South China Store will be used to build a candy-themed reading space; and Xinshiqu Tai’anli will be renovated into the Tai’anli culture and art center.
Xichehg District boasts profound culture and rich cultural relics, with 369 immovable cultural relics in its jurisdiction. It’s very important to protect the cultural relics and there is a huge potential for utilization of the cultural relics. Some cultural relic buildings located in Xicheng District, including Beijing Zhuandu Reading Space in Wan Song Monk Pagoda, October Literature Academy in Yousheng Temple, Chunshu Academy in the Former Residence of Lin Baishui, Shichahai Culture Exhibition Center in Guangfu Temple, China Rule of Law Celebrities Museum in the Former Residence of Shen Jiaben, and Beijing Lin Zexu Anti-drug Education Base in Fuzhou Guildhall, have already opened to the public.
