Martial Arts Performance Staged in Xicheng District
A martial arts performance of the 2020 Xicheng District Intangible Cultural Heritage Performance Season was staged at the Tianqiao Theater, Xicheng District on November 8.
The performance contained "Inheritance of Martial Arts", "Charm of Martial Arts" and "Promotion of Martial Arts" three chapters. It showed the origin of martial arts, its profound spirit, its characteristics, including risk, wonder and uniqueness, as well as the heritage and charm of traditional Chinese culture.
As a highlight of the 2020 Xicheng District Intangible Cultural Heritage Performance Season, this martial arts performance included shows of Bagua Zhang (literally "eight trigram palm"), back fist, Liu He Chuan (literally "six harmony boxing"), and San Huang Pao Chui (literally "three emperor cannon punch") Chuan, which are Xicheng District’s intangible cultural heritage items. It was presented by the inheritors of those types of martial arts, as well as martial arts performers and amateurs.
The event is the fifth session of the martial arts performance held in Xicheng District, as well as one of the "Memory in Xicheng" cultural activity brands. In recent years, Xicheng District’s protection of intangible cultural heritage has been advancing steadily and achieved lots of results. By now, Xicheng District boasts 36 intangible cultural heritage items under state protection, 67 ones under city protection and 208 ones under district protection.
