Xicheng District Market Supervision Bureau Conducted Food Safety Inspection

Xicheng District Market Supervision Bureau conducted a food safety and epidemic prevention and control inspection on food markets, supermarkets and restaurants last weekend due to the new cluster of local COVID-19 infections and the fact that all the cases are related to the Xinfadi wholesale market.

Nucleic acid tests have been conducted on edible agricultural products in the Hema Fresh store in Xizhimen, the Wumart store in Xinjiekou, the Wal-Mart store in Xuanwumen, Niujie Halal Supermarket, and Wanfa Hengshun Vegetable Market. A total of 110 samples were found to be negative.

The inspection focused on livestock and poultry meat, including fresh pork, frozen pork, beef, mutton, chicken and duck, as well as aquatic products and other related products. Xicheng District Market Supervision Bureau mainly inspected food markets trading fresh and frozen meat, and aquatic products, professional refrigerated warehouses, supermarkets, convenience stores, grocery stores, and restaurants that consume meat and seafood heavily. The origin information of fresh edible agricultural products in the food sale sector, mainly including supply channel, information of the merchant, booth number, purchasing method, and purchase quantities have been inspected as well.

According to a relevant person in charge of Xicheng District Market Supervision Bureau, they will step up efforts to inspect the food sale sector, supervise businesses not to sell products from epidemic-stricken areas and unqualified products, and supervise businesses to strictly control the purchase channel, to ensure that the purchase inspection system is in place and the records are complete, and to fulfill the food safety responsibilities.
