Green Spaces of 7000 Square Meters to be Built in Xicheng District in 2020
Xicheng District plans to build more pocket parks and mini green spaces this year. Green spaces of 7000 square meters will be built, and roof greening with an area of 10000 square meters and vertical greening with the extension lines of 1000 meters are planed to be added.
More than 100 native trees, such as weeping willow, Chinese scholar tree, golden rain tree, lacebark pine, flowering peach and begonia, have been planted in the Lotus Fragrance Garden, which is on the north side of Building 371, Guang'anmenwai Street, and adjacent to the waterfront green way of Lotus River. Gardeners are currently gardening this mini green space covering about 2200 square meters. It is expected to be opened to the public before May 1st. A children's activity area has been set up on the north side of the garden. A 55-square-meter sports facility area will be built in the southeast corner of the green space. A row of corridors has been set up at the north entrance of the garden to provide residents with a place for relax and leisure.
Xicheng District will also make use of more than 10 spaces where illegal buildings have been demolished to build pocket parks and mini green spaces. The projects aim to improve traffic condition, increase activity space, improve public facilities, increase cultural atmosphere and enrich activities, so as to meet the multiple needs of local residents and improve regional environment.
This year, Xicheng District will hold various gardening culture activities at gardening promotion centers, and build one enterprise or institution as well as one community into garden-style ones, in order to improve the environment around residents and build a livable Xicheng District.
