Guess Lantern Riddles in Chunshu Sub-District to Welcome Spring Festival
Chunshu Sub-district’s Fourth Liulichang "Guessing Lantern Riddles to Welcome the Spring Festival" event kicked off on January 17. Experts from the lantern riddle association provide original lantern riddles in front of the Rongbaozhai Building, Chunshu Sub-district, Xicheng District. Riddle-guessing lovers can share folk custom knowledge and experience traditional Chinese culture when guessing the riddles.
The Liulichang Street is decorated not only with colored lights, but colored papers with riddles on. More than 1000 pieces of riddle papers are prepared for visitors. During the event, there will also be lion dance, kuaiban (allegro), face-changing show, magic show and other performances, creating a festive atmosphere. Visitors can write down their wishes on a piece of paper and then put the piece of paper onto a "Spring Festival blessing tree".
During the riddle-guessing event, citizens can also visit cultural innovation market and experience paper-cutting at Chunshu Sub-district Resident’s Home of Culture. On February 8, Chunshu Book House and Chunshu Sub-district Resident’s Home of Culture will hold a Lantern Festival gala, and invite experts from the lantern riddle association to talk about the traditional culture presented by the lantern riddles.
The "Guessing Lantern Riddles to Welcome the Spring Festival" event has been held for three sessions in the Chunshu area. Chunshu Sub-district has also built some cultural brands such as the Liulichang Four Treasures of the Study Festival, the "Chunshu Cup" Beijing Community Amateur Performer of Peking Opera Contest, which allow citizens to learn about traditional Chinese culture through entertainment.
