Xicheng District to Build Green Spaces of 7000 Square Meters in 2020
Xicheng District will expand green spaces according to local conditions and build a batch of greening projects in 2020, the reporter learned on January 7 from the third press conference of Xicheng District’s "two sessions".
Xicheng District’s ecological environment kept improving in 2019, Wu Lijun, Chief of Xicheng District Bureau of Forestry and Parks, said on the press conference. Last year, Xicheng District has built 14 mini green spaces and pocket parks of 12400 square meters, as well as urban forest of 10300 square meters. The district has also completed 14 roof greening projects of 13700 square meters, and 21 vertical greening projects with the extension lines of 5282 meters. Residents living in Xicheng District can enjoy more public green spaces. Moreover, more than 600 gardening culture promotions have been held in government organs, schools, army camps and communities to promote gardening knowledge and the green lifestyle.
Xicheng District will continue to expand green leisure spaces this year. It plans to build pocket parks and mini green spaces in Baicaiwan Community, Guangwai Population Park, Honglian Beili and other places, with a total area of about 7000 square meters. The greening projects are planned to integrate Xicheng District’s history and culture into these green spaces. In addition, roof greening with an area of 10000 square meters and vertical greening with the extension lines of 1000 meters are planned to be increased.
This year, Xicheng District will organize various forms of voluntary tree planting activities, such as the construction of "Internet plus" voluntary tree planting base, and the adoption of trees and green spaces. Xicheng District plans to organize 300 gardening culture activities, as well as build one garden-style community and one garden-style organization in 2020. Xicheng District will make constant efforts to improve the quality of the environment around the residents, and build a livable Xicheng District.
