Children Learn from History in Study Tour of Palace Museum
Tianqiao Sub-district Women’s Federation organized 30 children aged 6 to 12 to have a study tour in the Palace Museum recently. The way of combining learning with entertainment allowed the children to play, study, and then gain an insight.
This study tour was a combination of situational and field teaching, including seven parts: learning, tour, hand-making, antique appreciating, contest, food-tasting, and results. Each theme lesson had its own route, such as "A Day for the Emperor" and "Past and Present Life of an Imperial Seal". The children had a study tour of exploring history and inheriting Chinese culture by learning about basic information on the Forbidden City, hand-making the imperial jade seal, participating in arrow-casting contest, and visiting the Treasure Gallery.
Guided by professional teachers, the children have experienced the charm of the culture and architecture of the Forbidden City. They have experienced the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture, learned about the spirit of craftsmanship embodied in ancient Chinese architecture, and had a better understanding of the profound Chinese civilization.
