Xicheng District’s 4 Rivers and Lakes Honored with "Beijing’s Most Beautiful Rivers and Lakes"
Beijing released the list of "Beijing’s Most Beautiful Rivers and Lakes of the Year" recently. The Forbidden City’s moat (Tongzi River), lake of the Grand View Garden, Xicheng District section of Beijing’s south moat, and Xicheng District section of Tonghui River stood out from 41 competitors and received the honor.
Xicheng District has taken various measures to restore aquatic ecosystem in recent years. Xicheng District Environmental Monitoring Station is responsible for the monitoring and supervision of regional water quality. Xicheng District Commission of Urban Management implements the "river chief" system by strictly preventing the drainage pollution of rivers and lakes, eliminating diffused pollution, improving IT application in the governance of rivers and lakes, strengthening basic data support, and promoting implementation of relevant projects.
Xicheng District Office of the River Chief System will strengthen the system, define and implement responsibilities in all levels, resolutely solve problems, and increase publicity, so as to keep regional rivers and lakes clean and beautiful.
