Huakang Bookstore Promotes Health Culture


Huakang Bookstore, located in Zhongjia Building, No. 80 Guang’anmen South Street, is a direct experience store of China Population Publishing House. It is a health culture bookstore which the National Health Commission has positioned to serve the community and the public. In 2019, it’s listed among "Xicheng District’s Distinctive Reading Spaces" by Xicheng District Commission of Culture.

Huakang Bookstore has a total area of 600 square meters, divided into display area, reading area, reading promotion area, audio-visual area and multi-function hall. At present, there are more than 6000 books on the shelves, which readers can read, buy and borrow. Books mainly cover classics, poetry, tea, calligraphy, painting, artwork collection, social science, population science, pregnancy and childbirth, maternal and child health, infant feeding, healthy and nutritious recipes, Chinese medicine, common disease prevention, middle-aged and elderly health care, children’s picture books, fairy tales, children’s handwork books, etc.

Huakang Bookstore features health popularization and tries its best to meet various needs of residents. Readers can buy health books and products, and read for free in the bookstore. They can participate in promotions of books or book lending from time to time. There are drink bar, 120-square-meter reading area, VR experiencing area and toy claw machines, as well as large screen, recording studio, launching hall and 200-square-meter multi-function hall, providing readers with a variety of reading experience. The bookstore cooperates with training institutions to open art training courses on musical instruments playing, chess, calligraphy, and painting for children. It also cooperates with the community to organize reading, calligraphy, painting, and handicrafts activities for senior citizens. It has made efforts to solve health problems readers often have in their daily life.
