Xicheng District is Recruiting Voluntary Inheritors of Intangible Cultural Heritage
The launching ceremony of Xicheng District’s recruitment of voluntary inheritors of intangible cultural heritage was held at the Xicheng District Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center on March 29. The recruitment event builds a platform for people from all walks of life who are interested in handicrafts to know and learn about traditional culture. Voluntary inheritors will learn skills from representative inheritors, therefore, the inheritor team will be improved and the intangible cultural heritage items will be promoted.
This year’s intangible cultural heritage items include Kaorou Ji’s skill in roasting mutton, Beijing imperial silk embroidery, Beijing gourd pyrography, skill in making Erhu and skill in making composite bow. The inheritors of these five intangible cultural heritage items introduced their items at the launching ceremony. And intangible cultural heritage items, including Beijing Huguosi Snacks’ expertise in making halal snacks, Beijing palace fan, Beijing-style peach-pit and walnuts carving, skill in making silk figurines and woodcut New Year painting, were demonstrated on the site.
The recruitment work will be completed on April 30. Afterwards, the inheritors will personally select the volunteers and teach them skills. After 24 class hours of training from early June to the end of July, outstanding volunteers will have a chance to become the real apprentice of the inheritor and the next generation of inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage item.
