Tianqiao Chinese flag performance

Tianqiao Chinese Flag Performance is a Beijing municipality-level intangible cultural heritage and also a national intangible cultural heritage. With the flag originating from the banner of the imperial honour guard, the Tianqiao Chinese Flag Performance became an item staged at temple fairs. The main part of the flag weighing more than 15 kilograms is a 10-metre long bamboo pole. A 0.5-metre wide and 5.5-metre long silk banner hangs on the top of the flag. Performers use their heads or arms to hold the flag while changing poses.
