Former Residence of Soong Ch’ing-ling
Sitting on Beiyan Lu in the picturesque Rear Lake (Houhai) area of Xicheng District, the Former Residence of Soong Ch’ing-ling once served as the garden of a prince’s mansion. Honorary chairwoman of the People’s Republic of China and wife of Dr. Sun Yat-sen (1866–1925), Soong Ch’ing-ling lived here from 1963 until her death in 1981. The Former Residence of Soong Ch’ingling has been included into the list of national important cultural sites under State protection. In its original appearance, the Former Residence of Soong Ch’ing-ling now displays the goods and materials she once used, letters, diary and pictures.
