Incepted in 1865, Yidege is the first ink maker in China. Xie Songdai, the founder of the enterprise, created the Chinese ink through technical innovations and with reference to traditional formulae and techiniques, and worked out the lampblack and pine-soot inks according to the request from painters and calligraphers. Today, the company still keeps many antiques that witnessed the development history of the Chinese ink.
