Zhuanta Hutong(the Brick Pagoda Hutong), is one of Beijing’s oldest and best-preserved hutong, with a history of more than 600 years. It is said that the ancient green-brick pagoda enshrines the bones of Wansong, an eminent monk and teacher of Yeluchucai, who was a famous minister in the Yuan Dynasty. Zhuanta Hutong was mentioned as an ancient relic of the city in a Ming book on the city’s neighbourhoods and hutong and a Qing book on Beijing’s historical sites and relics.
