Changlefang Urban Forest Park Opens to the Public

After three months’ construction, the Changlefang urban forest park opened to the public on July 1st.

The Changlefang urban forest park is located on the south side of Honglian South Road, Guang’anmenwai, Xicheng District, covering an area of 6000 square meters. It reflects biodiversity by adopting 32 species of 840 trees and shrubs such as Chinese pine, weeping willow, purpleblow maple, black date tree, locust tree, apricot and hawthorn, as well as 57 species of herbaceous groundcover plants covering 3345 square meters.

What’s more interesting is that the roads in the park are all laid with the Fotoff, a new environmentally friendly material made from shredded branches trimmed off garden trees. It’s non-toxic, odorless, permeable to water, acid and alkali resistant, moderately hard and degradable. So comparing with traditional paving material, the Fotoff is more environmentally friendly, more comfortable and can be recycled.

In addition to building urban forests, Xicheng District has also launched the construction of the Xihai Lake wetland park and the Shichahai Lake greenway, as well as 20 pocket parks and leisure spaces and many mini greens this year. By the end of this year, Xicheng District will have 6 urban forests including "Guangyang Valley", "Xinjiekou" and "Changlefang", and 8 hectares of urban green spaces.
