Xicheng District Held Red Cross Enrollment Ceremony to Celebrate Upcoming 71st World Red Cross Day
As the 71st World Red Cross Day is approaching, Xicheng District Red Cross Society and Xicheng District Commission of Education jointly held a "Hands in Hands, to Be Young Red Cross Members" Red Cross Enrollment Ceremony at the Zhanlanlu No.1 Primary School on the morning of May 7.
After the solemn flag-raising ceremony, the officials attending the enrollment ceremony presented youth membership cards of the Red Cross to new members. In the oath, a young representative of the Red Cross Society from the Zhanlanlu No.1 Primary School launched an initiative, calling on Xicheng District’s primary and secondary school students to take positive actions to further promote the Red Cross spirit of "Humanity, Fraternity, and Dedication" with their love.
It’s particularly important for youngsters to have emergency first-aid skills. Each student and teacher of the Zhanlanlu No.1 Primary School has learned the basic emergency first-aid skills. 1300 students and teachers together demonstrated hemostasis and bandaging skills at the enrollment ceremony. They will bring back their skills to their family and community.
The relevant person in charge of the Red Cross Society of the Zhanlanlu No.1 Primary School told the reporter that their school is the national Red Cross model school and the Beijing Red Cross School. They organize students to provide volunteer services for old people during every winter and summer vacation, organize students and teachers to learn related knowledge, such as the Red Cross movement, first aid, blood donation, hematopoietic stem cell donation, etc., and encourage young members of the Red Cross Society to be messengers of love.
From May 7 to 14, Xicheng District’s Red Cross organizations at all levels will hold series of promotion and commemorative activities in schools, communities, institutions, enterprises, and nursing homes, covering disaster relief emergency, blood donation, hematopoietic stem cell donation and senior care.
