Closing Exhibition of Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Fashion and Innovation Design Competition Held
The closing exhibition of the "Folk Treasures, Charming Capital" 2017 Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Fashion and Innovation Design Competition was held at Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center, co-hosted by Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center and Xicheng District Commission of Culture, supported by commission of culture of Beijing’s other districts, and co-undertaken by Xicheng District Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and the College of Arts of Beijing Union University. The exhibition is also the closing event of the "Folk Treasures, Charming Capital" series of intangible cultural heritage fashion experiencing events, which is financially supported by Beijing Culture and Art Foundation.
During the competition, 6 intangible cultural heritage experiencing events and 77 class-hour lectures by masters of intangible cultural heritage have been held. More than 50 inheritors of intangible cultural heritage took over 40 intangible cultural heritage items to Renmin University of China, Communication University of China, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, Beijing Union University, Beijing Foreign Studies University and Beijing City University to interact with more than 4000 young designers, teachers and students.
The competition has received 117 entries, out of which 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes and 6 third prizes were finally selected. The organizer of the competition presented the award-winning designers honorary certificates and innovative trophy produced under the supervision of Chinese arts and crafts master and jade carving master Zhang Tiecheng. It is worth mentioning that some of the outstanding design works have been produced into products, including Peking Opera hat-themed U-shaped pillow, cloisonné-themed pop airbag mobile phone holder and Peking Opera facial mask-themed travel bag.
