By the end of 2020, Xicheng District’s population of long-term dwellers has numbered 1.486 million.
Its population is made up of the Han nationality and 44 ethnic minorities, which account for 93.4 and 6.6 percent of the total district population. There are three minority nationalities, namely Hui, Man and Mongol, with populations of over 1,000.
There are 18 places of worship, including those for Catholics, Protestants, Buddhists, Taoist and Muslims in Xicheng District. The national administrative offices of Catholicism, Buddhism, Taoism and Islam are also located here.
