The district slopes slightly from northwest to southeast, with an average elevation of about 40 metres. It has a typical continental, temperate, monsoon climate with four distinctive seasons: dry and windy in spring, hot and rainy in the summer, nice and cool in autumn and arid and cold in the winter. The average annual temperature is 10–12°C, with lows of -7–4°C in January and highs of 25–26°C in July. There are 180–200 non-frost days every year, with 75 percent of its precipitation coming in the summer. Expect frequent rainstorms in July and August.
